If length was a determing factor for professional status then we'd have the Wedge players tour and not the Long Drivers tour. That means the par 4s would average 395 yards. The fairways where I play are very firm and I get a fair amount of roll. Does that make sense? However the pros have what is called a stock yardage for their irons, which equates essentially to the average distance they will hit a full shot with each iron swinging normally. By adding 10 yards to every shot hit by the AMA from 160 yards, the percentage of shots that would hit the green increases from 38.5% to 44.0% and the average distance from the target decreases from 71.8 feet to 60.6 feet.
